Tara Grammy is an Iranian-Canadian actress and playwright. She was born in Tehran, but grew up in Toronto, with a few years spent in the United-States, and Germany. She completed her Bachelor of Arts with a specialist in Drama at the University of Toronto, and has been performing since graduating in 2010. Her unique multi-national perspective inspired her to create her award-winning one-woman show Mahmoud , which she co-wrote, produced and stars in. Mahmoud was published by Playwright’s Canada Press in 2015 (click here to purchase a copy). The show has enjoyed sold out runs in Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. It has won many awards including Best of Toronto Fringe, Best Solo Performance and Best Solo Show at NYC Fringe.  Mahmoud was nominated for the prestigious Governor General’s Award for literary merit in 2016, and Tara was nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore award for best performance. 

Tara stars in romantic-comedy A Simple Wedding with Shohreh Aghdashloo, Rita Wilson and Maz Jobrani, and cohosts MBC Persia’s Persia’s Got Talent .
